TL;DR

  • What: Divisions are part of Public Safety's hierarchical structure with 6 divisions
  • Important: Divisions do NOT affect your abilities, stats, or power - they only affect story progression
  • Best Division: Division 6 is the best (world events, high stat scaling) but very difficult
  • For Beginners: Choose Public Safety over Private Sector for structured progression
  • Changing: Cannot change division without performing a wipe (data reset)

What are Divisions?

Devil Hunter divisions are part of the hierarchical structure of Public Safety. Each division has its own captain and specialties, increasing in difficulty as you progress through the divisions. This structured progression is one of the benefits of joining Public Safety rather than the Private Sector, and is better suited to beginners.

⚠️

Important: Divisions Do NOT Affect Abilities

Divisions do NOT affect your abilities, stats, buffs, or combat power. They only affect your story progression route. All players will eventually reach the same place regardless of which division they choose. Choose based on story preference, not gameplay advantages.

Key Points

  • • There are 6 Public Safety Divisions (Division 1-6)
  • • Each division has its own Captain and specialties

Public Safety vs Private Sector

Which Should You Choose?

While there are pros and cons to both Public Safety and Private Sector Devil hunting, if you're a beginner, you should choose Public Safety. The division system provides a linear progression system, clear guidelines, and salary and benefits.

Sure, it's less freeing than working for yourself, and you have to adhere to the dress code, but you're guaranteed a wage rather than relying on bounties.

Public Safety

  • • Government-backed organization
  • Structured hierarchy with 6 divisions
  • Linear progression system
  • Clear guidelines and rules
  • Guaranteed salary and benefits
  • • Focus on public protection
  • Better for beginners
  • • Must adhere to dress code

Private Sector

  • • Independent organization
  • More flexible structure
  • More freedom in gameplay
  • • Focus on profit and contracts
  • Relies on bounties (no guaranteed wage)
  • • Varied mission types
  • • Better for experienced players
  • • Less structured progression

Finding Division Captains

Division Captains are NPCs located in the game world. You'll need to explore to find them. Once you meet the requirements, speak with the Captain to join their division.

Which Division Should You Join?

Division 6 is the Best

Unsurprisingly, Division 6 is the best Devil Hunter division. Joining this division gets you access to world events for high stat scaling in the endgame, and lets you survive extinction-level events that no other division member would.

That being said, you should try out some lower divisions before diving straight into Division 6 due to its high difficulty.

For Beginners

Start with Division 1 or Division 2. These divisions provide:

  • • Easier requirements to meet
  • • Basic missions to learn the game
  • • Structured progression
  • • Foundation for higher divisions

For Advanced Players

Aim for Division 6 if you want:

  • • Access to world events
  • • High stat scaling in endgame
  • • Extinction-level threat content
  • • Maximum challenge and rewards
⚠️

Remember

Divisions do NOT affect your abilities or combat power. They only affect story progression. Choose based on the story route you prefer, not gameplay advantages.

How to Change Your Division

⚠️

Cannot Change Without Wipe

Once you've chosen a division, you cannot change without performing a wipe. A wipe will reset your character data, so choose your division carefully before committing.

How to Perform a Wipe

To change your division, you'll need to perform a character wipe. This will reset your progress, so make sure you really want to change divisions before doing this.

For detailed instructions on how to wipe your character, see our wipe guide (if available) or check the game's official documentation.
