Character Builds Guide

Learn about character builds, skill trees, weapon recommendations, and trait reroll strategies in Devil Hunter.

Understanding Builds

Character builds in Devil Hunter refer to how you allocate your skill points, choose your weapons, and configure your traits. A good build can significantly improve your effectiveness in combat and progression.

ℹ️

Build Flexibility

You can respec your build later, but it costs coins. Plan your build carefully, but don't be afraid to experiment.

OP BUILD

Best Medium Weapon Build (Curse Devil)

Nail Weapon (Medium Weapon)

REQUIRES Curse Devil contract. This weapon is extremely powerful - crits are easy to land and deal massive damage.

The crit is what makes this weapon OP. It also applies curse effects on enemies.

👹 Devil Contracts
  • Curse Devil(REQUIRED)

Needed to obtain Nail Weapon. Essential for this build.

  • Mantis Devil(Optional)
  • Ghost Devil(Optional)

🎯 Recommended Skills (Medium Weapon Tree)

Press N → Skill Tree → Medium Weapon. Recommended skill order:

  1. 1.
    Windbreaker Slash

Instant skill, block breaks enemies when they're blocking

  2. 2.
    Skyscraper

Instant, launches enemies in air, guard breaks

  3. 3.
    Shoulder Charge

BEST SKILL - Does massive damage (almost 2 health bars)

  4. 4.
    Whirlwind Slash

    Fun to use, good damage

  5. 5.
    Blitz Cut

Really good skill, deals a lot of damage

Performance: This build is considered "unfair" and "OP" by the community. The combination of easy crits, massive damage, and curse application makes it extremely dominant in PvP.

Note: Technique is not recommended (max 10-20 if you want more range/CD reduction). Resistance is only useful for Fiends or if you have bad contract debuffs.

COMMUNITY RECOMMENDED

Best Human Build (Greatsword)

One of the most versatile builds in the game. Excellent for PvP and general gameplay. This build focuses on control, damage, and versatility.

⚔️ Equipment

🗡️ Weapon

Punk Hazard (Greatsword)

Preferred over Scissors due to superior crit damage. The crit is what makes this weapon excellent.

All 5 Greatsword moves are excellent. Hotbar order: 1→2, 4→5 (all are grab moves).

👹 Devil Contracts
  • Snake Devil(M2 + Third Move)

Requires Yakuza faction. Superior to Future and Curse Devil.

  • Bat Devil
  • Ghost Devil

Note: Zombie Devil was removed due to current bugs.

🎮 Playstyle & Combos

Strategy: Play passively around players, use grab moves to control positioning. Greatsword M1s are slower but powerful - don't rely solely on M1s. Use moves to set up combos and control the battlefield.

Recommended Combo Sequence:

  1. 1.Block break the enemy
  2. 2.Use Ghost Devil to hold them in place
  3. 3.Press T for follow-up attack
  4. 4.Use Bat Devil (they'll already be guard broken)
  5. 5.Finish with Greatsword moves (Ironclad Thrust is excellent)

Key Moves: Ironclad Thrust is a really good move. Every move on Greatsword is good. Use Snake and Ghost to hold enemies in place, then follow up with your combos.

Alternative Stats for Better Parrying

For better parrying: Drop 10 Strength, add to Technique. Optionally drop 5 Health and add to Technique or Sanity.

This allows your moves to scale better with Technique while maintaining good damage output.

Minimum Sanity: 32 is enough to use all three devil contract moves. The build uses 35 for comfortable rotation without waiting for regen.

Performance: This build can kill players in approximately 3 moves + 10 M1s. The combination of high Strength and versatile devil contracts makes it extremely effective.

Note: Snake Devil is superior to Future and Curse Devil for this playstyle. Snake requires landing hits but provides better control and damage output.

Trait Reroll Guide

Traits are passive bonuses that affect your character. They can be rerolled using the Trait Reroll system, but it costs coins and becomes more expensive with each use.

⚠️

Cost

Plan your rerolls carefully. Only reroll when you have traits that don't match your build or when you have excess coins.
